Man charged following keyless car theft

Officers on patrol arrested a man on suspicion of a keyless car theft minutes after the vehicle was reported stolen.

Kent Police was called just before Midnight on Tuesday 6 February 2018 to a report of a BMW being stolen from a driveway in Lennox Road, Gravesend.

Officers responded to the report and at 12.10am the car was stopped by officers in Stonebridge Road, Northfleet. One man was arrested at the scene.

The keys to the car were inside the house at the time of the incident and were not removed from the property.

Karolis Petrauskas, 32, of no fixed address has appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court after he was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, driving without insurance and a licence. He was bailed to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court Tuesday 20 March.
