Man is charged with burglaries in Herne Bay and Canterbury

Officers investigating a report of a burglary in Herne Bay on Saturday 3 February 2018 have charged a man.

Cash and a wallet were reported to have been stolen from the elderly occupants of a house in the Ashburn Gardens area of the town at about 6.30pm.

Possessing a knife in public

Anthony Giles, aged 42, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with burglary and possessing a knife in public. 

He has also been charged with a burglary at St Martin’s Church, North Holmes Road, Canterbury, on Thursday 11 January 2018, in which money from a charity box was stolen.

Remanded in custody

He appeared before Medway Magistrates via virtual court on Monday 5 February 2018 and was remanded in custody to appear at Canterbury Crown Court on Monday 5 March 2018.
