Police officer injured in Ramsgate
Kent Police is continuing to investigate after an on duty police officer was injured in Ramsgate.
The officer was reported to have been knocked unconscious after being assaulted by a group of people in a graveyard in St Lawrence Chase, at about 9.50pm on Friday 2 February.
He was taken to a local hospital for treatment and was discharged the following morning. He is now recovering at home.
The force has received countless messages of support from the people of Ramsgate, and the wider county, and is grateful to have received these messages.
These wishes will be passed on to the officer.
Members of the public may have seen an increased police presence in the St Lawrence Chase area over the weekend.
This was due to routine enquiries, which included a thorough search of the area, and there is no need for alarm.
At the time of the incident it was also reported that one of the people who assaulted the officer may have been in possession of a firearm and armed officers attended the scene as a precaution. No firearm was discharged.
