Their car was stopped on the M20 after officers had seen it in suspicious circumstances in the Penenden Heath area.

A number tools and gloves were seized from inside the vehicle. Both were subsequently released under investigation.

Car stopped

The following day, a car that was driving erratically was stopped by patrols on Andrew Broughton Way at around 11.20pm.

The two occupants, local men aged 26 and 32 were arrested on suspicion of theft from motor vehicles.

A quantity of tools, car parts, keys and number plates was seized and both men remain in police custody while the investigation is ongoing.

There are a number of steps which can be taken to help prevent becoming a victim of crime:
  • Remove all valuable items overnight.
  • Consider investing in CCTV and sensors which alert you when someone walks near your vehicle or enters the driveway.
  • Have valuables `security marked’ so it makes them harder to sell on if they are stolen.
