Arrest of man over threat with knife in Maidstone

A knife has been seized and a man arrested following reports a person was threatened in the toilets of a bar in Maidstone.
During the early hours of Sunday 9 June 2019, Kent Police was called to a premises in Market Buildings, where it is alleged the victim was approached shortly after midnight.
Security staff at the location detained the suspect until officers arrived at the scene.

The man, aged 26 and from Wateringbury, was then arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and assault. He was later released pending further investigation.

Knife clampdown

Kent Police is continuing its clampdown on knife crime and associated offences, including the supply of drugs.

Carrying a knife increases the risk of being the victim of a serious assault and officers will continue to take robust and proactive action to detect, stop and search those believed to be in possession of weapons.
