Community Policing
The Community Safety Units (CSUs) deal with local crime and safety issues and have an important role in community policing. They aim to create a safe environment for you by reducing crime and anti-social behaviour.
Officers in the CSUs work alongside staff from other agencies including district councils.
You also have a Local District Policing Team. This is a group of officers who:
The North Division policing area covers the Dartford, Gravesham, Medway and Swale districts.
The Divisional Commander is Chief Superintendent Angie Chapman.
Local Policing is also supported by Superintendent Nick Sparkes and Detective Superintendent Richard Woolley.
Your District Commanders are as follows:
- North Kent (Dartford and Gravesham District) Commander – Chief Inspector William Lay
- Medway District Commander – Chief Inspector Garry Cook
- Swale District Commander – Chief Inspector Diane Middlemiss
The East Division policing area covers the Ashford, Folkestone, Hythe, Canterbury, Dover and Thanet.
The Divisional Commander is Chief Superintendent Simon Thompson.
Local Policing is also supported by Head of Divisional Operations Superintendent Rob Marsh and Head of Divisional Investigations Detective Superintendent Ed Ruffle.

The West division policing area covers the Maidstone, Sevenoaks, Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge and Malling.
The Divisional Commander is Chief Superintendent Neil Loudon.
