If a member of the public requires verification of an officer's identity, or the officer wants to assure a member of the public that they are a police officer they will contact Kent Police Force Control Room(FCR) via radio. A contact handler in the FCR will complete the checks and broadcast the following message:
"This is an officer identity check broadcast from Kent Police Control Room; Officer number e.g. 12345 relayed at, location (e.g. Sutton Road, Maidstone), reference number e.g. y".
If the member of the public is still not satisfied, they will be advised to call 999 and quote the reference number.
