We are closely monitoring the impact of the virus on all our recruitment activities.

Scheduled briefings, interviews, assessments, outreach events and support programmes are being kept under continual review and may be changed at short notice.

Our priority is to make sure you are informed, safe and supported so ask all candidates and new joiners to check back to this page for the latest position in relation to the various recruitment activities being undertaken.

Many recruitment processes are continuing to operate as we have taken significant steps to reduce the risk of infection for all visitors and personnel.

You will find our main recruitment processes outlined below and how any changes may affect you.

Police Officer

  • Intakes – the intake on 8 June is continuing as normal. Please check your emails regularly for any updates.
  • Briefings – the next briefing is scheduled for 8 April and will be a virtual briefing.  Please check your emails regularly as we will send out further information to you to let you know how to join us.
  • SEARCH Assessment – these have now been postponed whilst the College of Policing determine alternatives. If you were due to attend a SEARCH assessment, you should have been notified that these have been postponed and as soon as alternative arrangements are confirmed, we will be in touch with you.
  • Interviews - all interviews have now moved to a virtual platform. You will be contacted with further information via email and sent a link for your scheduled interview directly from the recruitment team.
  • Medicals - all medicals have been postponed and will be rearranged. All candidates affected will be contacted personally by the recruitment team.
  • Fitness tests – all fitness tests have been postponed and will be rearranged. All candidates affected will be contacted personally by the recruitment team.

Investigate First

  • Intakes- the intake on 17 August is continuing as normal. Please check your emails regularly for any updates.
  • Briefings - all briefings will be conducted virtually. Please check your emails regularly as we will send out further information.
  • SEARCH Assessment - these have now been postponed whilst the College of Policing determine alternatives. If you were due to attend a SEARCH assessment you should have been notified that these have been postponed and as soon as alternative arrangements are confirmed, we will be in touch with you.
  • Interviews - all our continuing as planned.
  • Medicals - all medicals have been postponed and will be rearranged. All candidates affected will be contacted personally by the recruitment team.
  • Fitness Tests - all fitness tests have been postponed and will be rearranged. All candidates affected will be contacted personally by the recruitment team.

Police Community Support Officer (PCSO)

  • Intakes – the intake on 22 June is continuing as normal. Please check your emails regularly for any updates.
  • Interviews - all interviews have now moved to a virtual platform. You will be contacted with further information via email and sent a link for your scheduled interview directly from the recruitment team.
  • Medicals - all medicals have been postponed and will be rearranged. All candidates affected will be contacted personally by the recruitment team.
  • Fitness tests – all fitness tests have been postponed and will be rearranged. All candidates affected will be contacted personally by the recruitment team.

Special Constabulary

  • Intakes - the intake on 2 May has been postponed and all candidates affected will be contacted by the recruitment team. Please check your emails regularly for any updates. 
  • Interviews - all interviews have now moved to a virtual platform. You will be contacted with further information via email and sent a link for your scheduled interview directly from the recruitment team.
  • Medicals - all medicals have been postponed and will be rearranged. All candidates affected will be contacted personally by the recruitment team.
  • Fitness tests - all fitness tests have been postponed and will be rearranged. All candidates affected will be contacted personally by the recruitment team.

Force Control Room (FCR)

  • Intakes - the intake on 26 May is continuing as normal. Please check your emails regularly for any updates.
  • Interviews - the assessment on 1 April has been postponed and will be rearranged.  All candidates affected will be contacted personally by the recruitment team.

Detention Officer

  • Intakes - the intake on 11 May is continuing as normal. Please check your emails regularly for any updates. 
  • Interviews - there are no scheduled interviews currently.

IMU (Investigators)

  • Intakes - the intake on 6 April is continuing as normal. Please check your emails regularly for any updates. 
  • The assessment on 1 April has been postponed and will be rearranged. All candidates affected will be contacted personally by the recruitment team.

All other roles

  • Recruitment activity is continuing as far as reasonably possible utilising virtual options.
