Kent Police – (based at Police Headquarters, Northfleet)
Starting salary £107,502 rising to £121,122 (plus car/allowance)
Chief Constable Tim Smith is seeking to recruit an exceptional assistant chief constable to take the processional lead for the force’s crime portfolio. The successful candidate will join the force’s Chief Officer Group and will provide professional leadership for crime, victim justice and protecting vulnerable people across the county.
Kent Police has consistently achieved national recognition through independent inspections. The force has been assessed by His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary, Fire and Rescue Service as outstanding at recording crime and good at preventing crime and tackling anti-social behaviour, treating people fairly and with respect and building and supporting its workforce. The force promotes an ethical, inclusive culture, and was found to be good at achieving savings and improving productivity. Whether bringing justice to victims, stopping sophisticated organised crime gangs or protecting the vulnerable from exploitation – the force has an innovative ‘can do’ culture to provide a first-class service to its communities.
Whilst the force is fiercely proud of its successes and the service delivered to the public, there are areas that require some improvement. The successful candidate for this opportunity will evidence how they will support the chief officer team in delivering those improvements for the people of Kent.
This influential and strategic leadership role plays a key part in the corporate management and direction of Kent Police and helps drive performance. The successful candidate will have responsibility for our Protecting Vulnerable People Command, Crime Command and Victim Justice Command.
As well as holding the highest levels of credibility as a proven detective the successful candidate must:
Candidates must have a strong investigative background, currently be operating at least at chief superintendent level, have passed the Senior Police National Assessment Centre and successfully completed the Strategic Command Course. The successful candidate will also be required to pass the necessary vetting checks required to attain the rank of assistant chief constable before appointment.
