This site is a beta, which means it's a work in progress and we'll be adding more to it over the next few weeks. Your feedback helps us make things better, so please let us know what you think.
You'll be working full-time as part of a team responsible for the reception, care and management of detainees including recording daily interactions and completing forms.
Detainee behaviour can be challenging - even volatile - so the ability to handle situations with respect, empathy and understanding is really important, as is the ability to remain calm and controlled.
You'll need good spelling and grammar as well as attention to detail as you'll be recording daily interactions with detainees and completing forms.
Above all, you'll need to be able to communicate effectively with all kinds of people from all walks of life, many of whom are vulnerable or confrontational.
As custody is a 24/7 business you'll be required to work a shift pattern.
Consideration will be given to where you live when we allocate your work locations although we are unable to guarantee you get the location of your choice.
In order to provide a countywide custody service on a daily basis, the role may require you to cover a variety of locations around the county.
Please note candidates must be able to travel to different custody suites across Kent and therefore it is essential you have access to a vehicle with the appropriate business use insurance.
