Once you have completed your two-year probationary period as a police constable, you can look to move into one of the 100 available roles in various specialist areas including:
- Anti-Corruption Command - treats sexual misconduct as well as drugs, theft and undisclosed links between officers and criminals
- Bluewater Shopping Centre Team - join the team that ensures Bluewater remains a safe and relaxed environment for guests and staff
- Cadets - provides an opportunity for young people aged 13 to 17 to get involved in activities which support community policing and learn about responsible citizenship
- Crime Squad - proactively and reactively investigate crime with particular focus on burglary, aggravated burglary and robbery
- Central Referral Unit - managing the sharing of information and giving tactical advice for domestic abuse and adult and child protection incidents
- County Lines and Gang Team - provides a proactive and preventative capability to reduce the harm caused to Kent communities from the criminality connected to 'County Line' Class A drug supply
- Covert and Serious Organised Crime - protects communities and individuals by targeting, breaking down and prosecuting organised crime groups
- Cyber Crime Unit - investigating criminal acts committed using computers or other IT devices including fraud, harassment and stalking, child sexual exploitation and revenge pornography
- Diversity & Inclusion Academy - centre of excellence that provides leadership within the force to enhance and develop our capability and service delivery
- Dog Section - provide police dog and handler teams to support colleagues by responding to calls where their unique skills can be used
- Drugs Liaison - providing expert witness evidence, drug identification, training, drug scene and investigation advice and general support
- Firearms Team - provide the capability to deal with terrorists and armed criminals
- HR Innovation Team - responsible for the planning and delivery of all volume recruitment activities
- Border Policing - coordinates the Special Branch responsibility of gathering intelligence and mitigating risk. We carry this out at the Kent air, sea and rail ports, together with the juxtaposed controls in Coquelles, France
- Innovation Task Force - introduction of new and significant changes to services, operational processes, organisational methods, or the way we communicate internally or with the public
- Intelligence Development - develop intelligence in relation to Serious and Organised Control Strategy Crime and Organised crime groups
- Major Crime Department - work to secure the conviction of offenders involved in the most serious and violent crimes including murder, manslaughter, stranger rape, kidnap and blackmail
- Missing and Child Exploitation Team - maintain an overview of all enquiries in relation to missing children and proactively investigate and safeguard children and young people vulnerable to child exploitation
- Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking - investigate all offences within the remit of serious and organised criminality and/or of a complex nature
- Paedophile Online Investigation Team - investigate those who exploit children via the internet, including those responsible for possessing, making or distributing indecent images of children as well as offenders using the internet to groom or incite children to commit sexual acts
- Public Order Trainer - provide operational support in numerous tactical capacities, as well as training in public order tactical disciplines and public order command
- Roads Policing Unit - provides a specialist response to the strategic road network and supports divisions in disrupting criminality
- Rural Task Force - tactical operations unit of specialist officers who work in our rural communities and deal with rural, wildlife, poaching, environmental and heritage crime
- Serious Collision Investigation Unit - investigating and responding to collisions which result in fatal or life-threatening injuries as well as other serious collisions where the specialist skills of a collision investigator are required
- Serious Economic Crime Unit - work with national and local partners to secure prosecutions against perpetrators of volume fraud, complex fraud and corruption
- Serious and Organised Crime Unit - protecting communities by breaking down organised crime groups who are responsible for serious offences across Kent including those operating across Kent’s borders
- Special Branch - forming part of the National Counter Terrorism Policing Network and work with partner agencies to combat threats to national security
- Staff Officers - providing support to the senior officer team
- Tactical Operations - supports local divisional policing with dog teams, armed response vehicles, roads policing staff and other specialist assets
- Search and Marine Unit - supplies direction, support and advice on all search and marine related matters
- Violence Reduction Unit - partnership between Kent Police, local authorities, Community Safety Partnerships, Public Health, the NHS, probation services, and other key agencies, to deliver a reduction in violence across Kent
- ViSOR Tactical Delivery Unit - managing sexual offenders and violent offenders
- Wanted Persons - dedicated to locating those wanted on Court Warrant, prison recalls and pre-charge wanted
