The 7F CTI and DCTI will support the 7 Forces in delivering effective Taser Training in compliance with the codes of practice and the national curriculum. \n The post holder will ensure that the 7 Force Taser achieves and maintains a College of Policing Taser Training Licence, ensuring standard operating procedures (SOPs) are being adhered to across all Taser delivery centres. They will ensure that all Taser Instructors are trained and accredited to National Standards, and that relevant continuous personal development in respect of all staff within the training team are appropriate and includes formal assessments of delivery standards. The CTI/DCTI will lead on the development and administration to manage CHRONICLE at an administrative level to ensure effective systems for keeping and monitoring training records and accreditation are maintained. The CTI will also report to the 7F Taser Portfolio holder (currently DCC Simon Megicks) on strategic Taser training and licencing matters supported by the DCTI,
who is expected to deputise for the CTI where necessary.
A comprehensive understanding, and evidence of delivery as a Taser Instructor and preferably Taser Lead Instructor.
Experience of carrying out Training Needs Analysis, training design, evaluation, and experience of delivery of a College of Policing licensing process.
Experience in staff supervision, and the capacity to contribute to building a team focused on high quality customer service and achieving departmental and/or strategic objectives.
The DCTI must be a competent CED Instructor. The CTI and or the DCTI must also be a competent CED Lead Instructor. This must be evidenced in their portfolio which is signed off annually by the CTI. The following CoP guidance provides an additional overview of the licencing process.
Hold Security Clearance to SC or be able to attain SC clearance.

Is equipped with and can apply police first aid skills, including the provision of BLS, effective control of bleeding, handling basic medical and trauma situations. Has satisfactorily completed the necessary training, with competence to a proven, approved standard and holds a valid certificate which equates to the HSE "Appointed Person". Retention of this level of competence will be subject to refresher training and re-assessment every three years..
Has received training which enables the effective completion of risk assessments and Health and Safety inspections of premises. Identifies defects or hazards and takes action to resolve any apparent health and safety issues within an area or department. Fully accepts responsibility for the safety of members of staff, as well as visitors and contractors. Monitors the application of health and safety related procedures for the area or department. Possession of a certificate level qualification in Health and Safety is desirable.
Knows the range of police information systems available locally to support daily activities, and understands their uses. Can use police information systems to perform routine tasks. May be able to create simple records, and amends data to add information, within requirements of role. Understands data quality issues.
Has a thorough understanding of the responsibilities of the police and all other participants in the legal process. Has overall responsibility for advising other officers on the application of all legislation, policy and procedure relevant to the current role. Confident in the application of the complaints procedure and policy, able to initiate an investigation, where this is warranted, and secure relevant evidence.
Full compliance with Level 3. Has successfully completed all standard relevant Information Management and Security training package(s). Accurate use of Government Security Classification (GSC). Ensures physical and digital records are stored with appropriate security relevant to the sensitivity of the documents and has working understanding of appropriate National Retention Schedules. Is able to quality assure own records management processes as well as those of any staff for whom they have supervisory responsibility. Is aware of where to seek further support in relation to Records management within force when necessary. If nominated as an Information Asset Assistant is familiar with the NPCC Information Asset Owners Handbook.
Able to anticipate risks likely to affect the team's ability to execute their function, in terms of likelihood and impact, and assesses how the challenges facing the wider organisation might affect their team and their objectives. Has an understanding of pathways to alert local managers to flawed or ineffective operational control strategies and provide continuity/recovery options. Has an appreciation that seizing opportunities also generates risks.
Able to effectively plan long term, force wide training programmes, balancing available resources and competing priorities. Examines alternatives and produces costed business plans to assist with the delivery of cost effective training throughout the Force. Identifies skills gaps and initiates appropriate training.
