The Therapy Dog Team provide emotional support for vulnerable people, children and individuals with mental health issues. There may also be occasions when internal staff may benefit from this support.
If you can volunteer the services of you and your dog for the benefits of others, you may want to consider becoming a member of the Therapy Dog Team.
Therapy dogs are not police dogs; this is a stand-alone voluntary support role.
Building upon the success of the CPV Therapy Dog team, we are looking to expand the team by recruiting volunteers and their dogs. You would need to attend Kent courts, with most demand at Maidstone Crown Court, helping the force to support the most vulnerable victims and witnesses to give evidence.
As a Therapy Dog team volunteer, you must own your own dog. You will both be assessed to a standard by our accredited dog specialist and a public access test will be completed. We will accompany you on initial visits to mentor and support you.
Upon successful recruitment and training, you and your dog will be able to volunteer in the other activities and events the team engage in, in addition to the support dogs in court scheme. If you wish to be a part of an exciting and high-profile voluntary role supporting others, then please get in touch.
