October is Black History Month, a time for recognition and reflection.
Kent Police is a diverse organisation and we want to be representative of the communities that we serve. We are proud of the progress we continue to make and are determined to do more.
We continue to encourage more applicants from a black, Asian and minority ethnic background into the force with our Positive Action programme.
We celebrate Black History Month by asking some of our officers and staff to share the stories behind their careers. We would like to thank those who have shared their stories, your contribution to the campaign and the force is appreciated.
During my career policing has changed; it has become more diverse
Family friends inspired me to become a police officer
The feeling of making a positive impact is really special
Growing up never did I think policing was a career for me
My passion is working for the police and teaching in inclusion
I genuinely love that I am helping to protect the most vulnerable
My encounters with the police encouraged me to join
Proud to be a Kent police officer and representing my heritage
I believe that when you enjoy your job, it doesn’t feel like work
