This site is a beta, which means it's a work in progress and we'll be adding more to it over the next few weeks. Your feedback helps us make things better, so please let us know what you think.
The officer in the case (OIC) will contact you and a Domestic Abuse Support Officer (DASO) may call you to discuss safeguarding solutions and explain the services of other support agencies. If you have agreed to be contacted by Victim Support, depending on your risk level, they may contact you to offer advice and support. If you are deemed to be high risk, a referral will be made to the IDVA service who will contact you and explain how they can support you through the process. The OIC will start to gather evidence to build a case for the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) to help make any decision about charging the suspect with an offence. You will be kept up to date and you can access any support networks.
The MARAC will be held, and your case will be discussed if it is thought you are risk assessed as being at high risk. The IDVA will be your voice at this meeting as you won’t be required to attend.
