This site is a beta, which means it's a work in progress and we'll be adding more to it over the next few weeks. Your feedback helps us make things better, so please let us know what you think.
At this point it may feel that matters have slowed down as the police are
building the case, and this takes time, but you will be kept updated at
regular intervals. The officer in the case (OIC) will talk to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and they will decide what offences the suspect can be charged with. If the suspect is charged, a date for a trial in court will be set and the Court IDVA/support service will still support you at this time. A witness care officer will also be in contact with you to make sure you are supported at court.
There is no set time limit on how long it will take to complete the investigation, but it will be months rather than weeks. We will ensure that you are kept up-to-date and supported throughout.
