Q. What will the court be told about me?
A. Only matters that are relevant to the case.
Q. Will I have to go to court?
A. If the suspect is charged with an offence it is likely. If the suspect is charged with an offence and disputes your account of events you may be required to give evidence to the court. Special measures will be considered such as giving evidence via a virtual live link rather than in the court room itself. Other measures are available and the officer in the case (OIC) will explain these to you. You will not have to give evidence if the suspect pleads guilty and you will be continually supported before and during a trial. A possible outcome in either case of a guilty or not guilt outcome is the ability to apply for a restraining order and the OIC will talk to you about this.
