Please note that from September 2022 we no longer show:

• staff physically injured
• staff injury received as intentional assault

This data will therefore show as 0.

Subject

The table shows how many people were injured when force was used, as well as if the injury was minor or severe. This does not include injuries that the person had before use of force was used.

A minor injury is an injury that may require some simple first aid but does not meet the definition of severe.

A severe injury is a fracture, deep cut, or any injury causing damage to an internal organ or the impairment of any bodily function or, an injury which, after initial assessment at hospital, requires formal admission to hospital.

Please note that from September we no longer show:

• nature of injury - severe
• nature of injury - minor
• medical assistance offered
• medical assistance provided
