Within London and the South East, both vulnerable adults and young people are exploited to take part in street level drug dealing. Many gangs secure a base in the homes of local residents, forcing them to help by using violence, intimidation or by exploiting their own drug addiction. Local children can also sometimes be recruited to work as ‘runners’. We are working hard with other agencies to combat the harm caused to our communities by street gangs and are determined to prevent them establishing themselves within our policing division.
