Your Community Safety Unit is made up of local officers and police community support officers, led by a sergeant and inspector. They’re based in your area and supported by the wider Kent Police team.
We work with councils, community groups and local leaders to tackle the issues that matter most, finding long-term solutions and reducing crime.
We publish the meetings and events we plan to attend, but attendance depends on operational priorities.

Road safety issues.
Issued 14 April 2026
Speed checks have been carried out in areas where residents have reported concerns about speeding and unsafe driving. These roadside checks help officers identify drivers who may be putting themselves and others at risk, while also providing a visible police presence within the community.
On Trinity Road, one driver was arrested for driving while over the legal alcohol limit and has since been charged to appear in court. In Repton and Kennington, 2 vehicles were seized after officers established, they were being driven without valid insurance. These actions were the result of proactive patrols and information provided by local residents. Officers will continue to carry out targeted enforcement activity against drivers who pose a risk to other road users, helping to improve road safety and address concerns raised by the community.

Nuisance motorcycles.
Issued 14 April 2026
Following reports of motorcycles being ridden on footpaths and in local parks, officers have increased patrols in these areas to deter antisocial behaviour and improve safety for residents. During one incident, officers observed a rider using a moped in an antisocial manner on Beecholme Drive. The rider failed to stop for police and continued onto the cycle and pedestrian path near Ashford Rugby Club before being detained. The individual was arrested on suspicion of several offences, including dangerous driving and failing to stop for police. During a search, officers found and seized 2 catapults and a quantity of cannabis. Officers will continue to patrol local footpaths, parks and open spaces to identify offenders, address antisocial behaviour and help keep the community safe.

Antisocial behaviour - nuisance.
Issued 14 April 2026
Officers have been working closely with a local housing provider to tackle serious antisocial behaviour and drug-related activity linked to a property in the Repton area. Following repeated reports from residents, a full Closure Order was obtained for the address. A Closure Order is a legal power that allows a property to be closed when it is associated with significant crime, disorder or antisocial behaviour. This action has successfully disrupted the criminal activity and reduced the impact on local residents and the wider community. Anyone who enters or attempts to enter the property in breach of the Closure Order can be arrested and may be prosecuted. Officers will continue to work with housing providers and partner agencies to address issues of this nature and help keep local neighbourhoods safe.
