Road safety issues.

Speed checks have been carried out in areas where residents have reported concerns about speeding and unsafe driving. These roadside checks help officers identify drivers who may be putting themselves and others at risk, while also providing a visible police presence within the community.

On Trinity Road, one driver was arrested for driving while over the legal alcohol limit and has since been charged to appear in court. In Repton and Kennington, two vehicles were seized after officers established, they were being driven without valid insurance. These actions were the result of proactive patrols and information provided by local residents.

Officers will continue to carry out targeted enforcement activity against drivers who pose a risk to other road users. This ongoing work aims to improve road safety, reduce dangerous driving and respond to concerns raised by the local community.

Nuisance motorcycles.

Following reports of motorcycles being ridden on footpaths and through local parks, officers have increased patrols in these areas to address concerns raised by residents and improve public safety. During one incident, officers observed a rider using a moped in an antisocial manner on Beecholme Drive. The rider failed to stop when requested by police and continued onto the cycle and pedestrian path near Ashford Rugby Club before being detained.

The rider was arrested on suspicion of several offences, including dangerous driving and failing to stop for police. During a search, officers located 2 catapults and a quantity of cannabis, which were seized and disposed of appropriately. Officers will continue to patrol footpaths, parks and other public spaces to deter antisocial behaviour, identify offenders and help keep the community safe.

Antisocial behaviour - nuisance.

Officers have been working closely with a local housing provider to tackle serious antisocial behaviour and drug-related activity linked to a property in the Repton area. Following multiple reports from residents, a full Closure Order was obtained for the address. A Closure Order is a legal measure that allows a property to be closed when it is associated with significant crime, disorder or antisocial behaviour.

This action has successfully disrupted the criminal activity and antisocial behaviour linked to the property, helping to improve the quality of life for nearby residents and provide reassurance to the local community. Anyone who enters or attempts to enter the property in breach of the Closure Order can be arrested and may be brought before the courts.

Officers will continue to work alongside housing providers and partner agencies to identify problem locations, take action against those involved in criminal activity and antisocial behaviour, and help keep local neighbourhoods safe.
