Catapults.

Officers continue to work with partner organisations to tackle catapult-related antisocial behaviour in Singleton Lakes and surrounding areas. Regular patrols are carried out in hotspot locations to deter offending, identify those responsible and provide reassurance to residents.

This work has resulted in an arrest linked to catapult-related offending in Stanhope, and officers are seeking a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO). A CBO is a court order that places restrictions on an individual's behaviour to help prevent further offending. If breached, it can result in further enforcement action.

Officers have also used Acceptable Behaviour Agreements, which are voluntary agreements between a young person, their family and partner agencies that set out clear expectations for future behaviour and encourage positive choices. In addition, officers have used stop and search powers, seized and destroyed catapults, and provided education and support to those involved. Through ongoing enforcement, education and partnership working, officers continue to tackle catapult crime, protect wildlife and improve community safety in Singleton Lakes, Stanhope and the surrounding area.

Road safety issues.

We have completed a number of speed enforcement checks across Singleton, Stanhope, Washford Farm and the Beaver area. During these proactive checks, Traffic offence reports have been issued to drivers and roadside education where appropriate to do so. A young person on an e-scooter riding on a road, posing a risk to himself and other road users in Singleton was also given diversionary advice and their e-scooter was seized.

Nuisance motorcycles.

Following the seizure of several motorbikes being ridden antisocially in the Stanhope and Cuckoo woods area, we have seen a reduction of incidents reported. We continue to proactively patrol the area and have dedicated days of action within the wards with the Roads Safety Unit and act on the feedback from the public via My Community Voice and other reporting methods.
