  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

    Fly tipping.

    Issued 22 April 2026

    Action taken:

Concerns about fly-tipping have been raised by local residents, and officers have been working to build a better understanding of the issue through community engagement and information gathering. Fly-tipping, which is the illegal dumping of waste, can harm the environment, create health and safety concerns and negatively affect local communities. Areas where waste has been identified have been reported to the local council, which is responsible for removing fly-tipped waste and investigating most related offences. Larkey Valley Woods has been highlighted as a particular area of concern and will continue to be monitored. Anyone found responsible for fly-tipping will be dealt with appropriately. We will continue to work with residents and partner agencies to help protect the local environment and reduce the impact of this issue on the community.

  • Priority:

    Nuisance motorcycles.

    Issued 22 April 2026

    Action taken:

Officers carried out a targeted operation in the Wincheap and Thanington areas to tackle concerns about nuisance off-road vehicles. During the operation, a red quad bike was stopped in an orchard behind the Wincheap Allotments and seized after the rider was seen using a footpath to access the area. Officers are continuing to investigate reports and gather information to identify where nuisance vehicles are being stored and used. Information shared by residents through My Community Voice and during routine patrols is helping officers identify locations linked to this activity so that appropriate action can be taken.

On 4 June, PC Beer and Police Community Support Officer Hazell carried out speed checks at several locations across the Wincheap ward. The operation provided a visible police presence and helped address concerns about speeding through support for the Speedwatch scheme. Speedwatch is a community initiative where trained volunteers work alongside the police to monitor vehicle speeds and raise awareness of road safety issues. During the afternoon, officers also identified a nuisance motorcycle. Enquiries are ongoing to identify the rider and take appropriate action. Officers will continue to carry out regular patrols, speed checks and enforcement activity to improve road safety and address concerns raised by the community.

  • Priority:

    Drug dealing.

    Issued 22 April 2026

    Action taken:

Over the past month, officers have maintained a regular presence across the Wincheap ward, with a particular focus on areas where concerns about drug-related activity have been raised. Through ongoing patrols and engagement with residents, businesses and community groups, officers have been able to monitor areas of concern, gather information and deter criminal activity. This visible presence helps to reassure the community and enables officers to respond quickly to concerns raised by local people. Patrols and engagement work will continue to support efforts to tackle drug-related activity and help ensure the area remains safe and welcoming for residents, businesses and visitors.
