Road safety issues.
Action taken:
We have conducted high-visibility patrols in local villages to help keep roads safe. During these patrols, officers have used systems such as the Police National Computer and the DVLA to check that vehicles and drivers meet legal requirements. Vehicles have been stopped where needed, and drivers have been dealt with appropriately. We have also carried out checks along the A257 and will continue this work, with support from Kent Police’s Road Safety Unit in future operations.

Dog fouling.
Action taken:
Dover District Council is the main organisation responsible for enforcing dog fouling offences. During our patrols, if officers see someone not cleaning up after their dog, they will speak to them and take their details. However, any formal enforcement action remains the responsibility of Dover District Council.

Highway obstructions.
Action taken:
We regularly receive reports about vehicles causing obstructions. These are first assessed by our Control Room and then by officers attending the scene. Unless there is a real and immediate risk to the public, Kent Police does not have the power to move vehicles from where they are parked. Untaxed vehicles are dealt with by the DVLA, while abandoned vehicles and those parked on yellow lines are managed by Dover District Council’s Parking Enforcement Team.
