about

Your Community Safety Unit is made up of local officers and police community support officers, led by a sergeant and inspector. They’re based in your area and supported by the wider Kent Police team.

We work with councils, community groups and local leaders to tackle the issues that matter most, finding long-term solutions and reducing crime.

We publish the meetings and events we plan to attend, but attendance depends on operational priorities.

My Community Voice is a free messaging service that keeps you updated on local news, events and safety information from your policing team. Find out more and register for My Community Voice.

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

    Road safety issues.

    Issued 14 April 2026

    Action taken:

Following feedback from our recent community survey, road safety has been identified as a key concern for residents in Walmer. In response, we are carrying out regular high-visibility patrols across the area, both on foot and using marked police bicycles, to provide reassurance and help prevent offences. We also work closely with Walmer Parish Council to better understand local concerns and take action where it is most needed.

Officers have supported residents who help maintain local areas such as footpaths, providing advice and signage in locations affected by nuisance motorbikes. You may also see Community Speedwatch volunteers carrying out roadside speed checks to remind drivers to slow down, with follow-up visits where needed.

Targeted road safety checks have also taken place, where vehicles are stopped to make sure drivers are safe to drive, vehicles are roadworthy, and the correct documents are in place. Where appropriate, drivers are tested for alcohol and drugs.

We remain committed to tackling road safety concerns in Walmer. If you have information about those contributing to these issues, or suggestions on how Kent Police and partners can address this priority, please contact Kent Police or report anonymously through Crimestoppers.

  • Priority:

    Alcohol.

    Issued 14 April 2026

    Action taken:

Following feedback from our recent community survey, alcohol-related issues have been identified as a priority for residents in Walmer. In response, Kent Police has made this a local policing priority and is carrying out targeted patrols and operations in areas where problems are reported.

Working with Dover District Council, a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) is in place in key areas, including the seafront and nearby public spaces. This allows officers to ask people to stop drinking and hand over alcohol if their behaviour is causing problems. At times when issues increase, officers can also use powers to move groups on from an area to help prevent further disruption.

Officers also take action when alcohol is in the possession of young people who are underage, and we work with Trading Standards to address concerns about the sale of alcohol to minors.

We also support the Deal Community Alcohol Partnership, which works with schools, shops and other partners to help prevent underage drinking, raise awareness and reduce harm.

High-visibility patrols continue across the area, both on foot and using marked police bicycles, to reassure the community and respond to concerns. If you are experiencing issues with street drinking or alcohol-related antisocial behaviour, please report this to Kent Police so we can target our patrols. If you have information to share, you can contact Kent Police or report anonymously through Crimestoppers.
