E-bikes/E-scooters.
Issued 20 July 2026
Officers continue to monitor reports of the illegal use of e-bikes and e-scooters and take action where concerns are identified. Over the last three months, targeted patrols and high-visibility policing activity have been carried out in locations reported by residents, helping officers to identify those involved and address antisocial behaviour. Information gathered through patrols, community engagement and partner organisations has helped build a clearer picture of when and where incidents are taking place. Officers also work closely with the Neighbourhood Task Force to support enforcement activity, provide education and engage with riders where appropriate. Residents are encouraged to continue reporting concerns, as this information helps officers target patrols and focus activity on areas where it is needed most.

Road safety.
Issued 20 July 2026
Officers continue to carry out proactive patrols and enforcement activity in the Cheriton area to address concerns about antisocial driving, speeding and nuisance vehicle use. Regular high-visibility patrols by neighbourhood officers, specialist teams and response officers help identify offences, provide reassurance to residents and improve road safety. Where appropriate, drivers are given advice and education, while more serious incidents may result in enforcement action, including the issuing of Section 59 warnings and the seizure of vehicles. A Section 59 warning can be issued when a vehicle is being used in a way that causes alarm, distress or annoyance to others, and continued offending may result in the vehicle being seized. Officers continue to work with residents through community meetings and local engagement opportunities to identify problem locations and focus activity where it is most needed.

Antisocial behaviour.
Issued 20 July 2026
Officers continue to carry out targeted patrols in areas identified as hotspots for antisocial behaviour. Through proactive engagement and enforcement activity, officers have identified individuals involved in antisocial behaviour and taken appropriate action where necessary. In some cases, officers have used stop and search powers where there were lawful grounds to suspect criminal activity. A stop and search is a police power that allows officers to search a person for items such as illegal drugs, weapons or stolen property when certain legal conditions are met. The increased police presence and targeted activity have helped reduce antisocial behaviour in affected locations, provide reassurance to residents and improve community confidence. Through ongoing patrols, engagement and enforcement, officers continue to work to prevent antisocial behaviour and keep local communities safe.
