Your Community Safety Unit
Your Community Safety Unit is made up of local officers and police community support officers, led by a sergeant and inspector. They’re based in your area and supported by the wider Kent Police team.
We work with councils, community groups and local leaders to tackle the issues that matter most, finding long-term solutions and reducing crime.
We publish the meetings and events we plan to attend, but attendance depends on operational priorities.

Off road bikes.
Action taken:
Officers continue to take action against the illegal use of off-road bikes in the area. A number of vehicles have been seized and fixed penalty notices issued where offences have been identified. Community Protection Warnings (CPWs) have also been issued to repeat offenders as an early intervention measure to deter further antisocial behaviour.
A CPW is a formal warning used to address behaviour that is having a negative impact on the local community. Where offenders continue to use vehicles unlawfully, further enforcement action may be taken. Seized vehicles linked to persistent offending may ultimately be destroyed. Officers will continue to patrol hotspot locations and take robust action against anyone using off-road bikes illegally.

Drug dealing.
Action taken:
In response to concerns about suspected drug dealing and related activity, officers have continued to carry out regular high-visibility patrols and targeted enforcement in the area. Officers are also proactively engaging with residents and using stop and search powers where lawful grounds exist. A stop and search is a legal power that allows officers to search people for items linked to criminal activity, including illegal drugs.
These actions help disrupt drug-related crime, deter those involved and provide reassurance to the local community. Officers will continue to carry out intelligence-led patrols, act on information provided by residents and take enforcement action where offences are identified to help keep the area safe.

Theft shoplifting.
Action taken:
In response to concerns about theft and shoplifting, officers have increased patrols in key locations and continue to work closely with local businesses to reduce offending. Efforts have focused on improving reporting processes, sharing information and supporting retailers in identifying repeat offenders. This partnership approach helps build stronger cases against those responsible and has contributed to more offenders being identified, charged and brought before the courts. Officers will continue to work with businesses and carry out proactive patrols to deter theft and support the local community.
