Crimes and priorities

  • Our priorities
  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

    Off road bikes.

    Issued 21 April 2026

    Action taken:

Officers continue to take robust action against the illegal use of off-road bikes in the area. A number of vehicles have been seized and traffic offence tickets issued where offences have been identified. Community Protection Warnings (CPWs) have also been issued to repeat offenders as a preventative measure to deter further antisocial behaviour.

A CPW is a formal warning used to address behaviour that is having a negative impact on the local community. Where offenders continue to use vehicles unlawfully, further enforcement action may be taken. Seized off-road bikes linked to illegal or persistent offending may be destroyed.

Officers will continue to carry out targeted patrols and enforcement activity to identify offenders, reduce nuisance vehicle use and improve community safety.

    Actioned 03 July 2026

  • Priority:

    Youth involved in disruptive activities.

    Issued 21 April 2026

    Action taken:

Regular patrols are carried out in areas where nuisance youth activity has been reported to help identify those responsible and provide reassurance to local residents. Where young people are identified as being involved in antisocial behaviour, Acceptable Behaviour Agreements (ABAs) may be issued. An ABA is a voluntary agreement between a young person, their parent or guardian and the police that sets out expected standards of behaviour and aims to prevent further incidents.

Officers also carry out follow-up visits with young people and their parents or guardians to ensure the conditions of these agreements are being followed and to provide support where needed. This early intervention approach helps reduce repeat offending, encourage positive behaviour and improve the quality of life for the wider community.

    Actioned 03 July 2026

  • Priority:

    Drug use and/or cannabis smoking.

    Issued 21 April 2026

    Action taken:

Regular patrols are carried out in areas where concerns about drug use and cannabis smoking have been reported. Officers use stop and search powers where lawful grounds exist to identify those suspected of possessing or using controlled drugs. A stop and search is a legal power that allows officers to search people for items linked to criminal activity, including illegal drugs.

Where offences are identified, appropriate action is taken. This may include the use of a Community Resolution, which is an out-of-court outcome for lower-level offences, or a formal caution where suitable. Officers will continue to carry out proactive patrols and act on information provided by residents to tackle drug-related activity and help keep the area safe.
