Your Community Safety Unit
Your Community Safety Unit is made up of local officers and police community support officers, led by a sergeant and inspector. They’re based in your area and supported by the wider Kent Police team.
We work with councils, community groups and local leaders to tackle the issues that matter most, finding long-term solutions and reducing crime.
We publish the meetings and events we plan to attend, but attendance depends on operational priorities.

Drug taking.
Action taken:
High-visibility patrols have been carried out in areas where concerns about drug-related activity and antisocial behaviour have been raised. Where appropriate, officers have used powers under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act to stop and search individuals suspected of possessing controlled drugs. Officers have also executed drugs warrants at identified addresses and worked with partner agencies to obtain Closure Orders for properties linked to drug use and associated antisocial behaviour. This ongoing activity aims to disrupt criminal activity, reduce harm within the community and improve the quality of life for local residents.

Highway obstructions.
Action taken:
Officers engage with vehicle owners to help ensure roads remain safe and free from obstructions. Reports of obstructive or inconsiderate parking are assessed and dealt with where appropriate. When possible, officers will speak directly with vehicle owners to provide advice and guidance. Vehicles found without valid tax may be seized, while abandoned vehicles can be referred to Maidstone Borough Council for removal. This ongoing work helps improve road safety and reduce disruption for residents and other road users.

We have responded to road safety concerns raised by the community through high-visibility patrols and speed checks. Enforcement action has been taken for offences including speeding, not wearing a seatbelt and driving without insurance, and vehicles have been seized where appropriate. We will continue to listen to residents and take action to improve road safety and help keep our roads safe for everyone.
