  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

    Antisocial behaviour - nuisance.

    Issued 14 April 2026

    Action taken:

Community Protection Notices have been issued to individuals causing ongoing nuisance in the town centre, most commonly linked to alcohol-related antisocial behaviour. A Community Protection Notice is a legal notice designed to stop persistent antisocial behaviour and can lead to further action if breached.

High-visibility patrols continue on foot, by bicycle and in vehicles, supported by town ambassadors. With support from special constables, officers are also carrying out traffic enforcement on restricted roads near the High Street to deter nuisance vehicles and improve safety for residents, businesses and visitors. Officers will continue to patrol the area and take action where offences are identified.

    Actioned 03 July 2026

  • Priority:

    Drug taking.

    Issued 14 April 2026

    Action taken:

Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) enforcement continues in the High Street to address alcohol and drug-related antisocial behaviour. A PSPO is a legal order used to prevent behaviour that has a negative impact on the community in public places.

Officers have seized alcohol, particularly in the Gabriel’s Hill area, following reports of antisocial behaviour during the evenings. Two individuals have also been issued with Community Protection Notices, which are legal notices designed to stop ongoing nuisance behaviour.

We continue to use a range of antisocial behaviour powers to address these issues and are currently seeking a Criminal Behaviour Order. A Criminal Behaviour Order is a court order that places restrictions on an individual to help prevent further offending and protect the wider community.

    Actioned 03 July 2026

  • Priority:

    E-scooters/e-bikes.

    Issued 14 April 2026

    Action taken:

Officers are carrying out daily enforcement activity to tackle the illegal use of e-scooters and e-bikes. As part of this work, 198 e-scooters and 40 illegal e-bikes have been seized. Encouragingly, compliance is improving and fewer illegal e-scooters and e-bikes are being seen in the area.

To support enforcement, a tagging system has been introduced for legal e-bikes. This allows officers to quickly identify bicycles that have been checked and confirmed as meeting legal requirements. Officers will continue to combine education, engagement and enforcement activity to improve safety and ensure e-scooters and e-bikes are used lawfully.

    Actioned 03 July 2026
