Your Community Safety Unit
Your Community Safety Unit is made up of local officers and police community support officers, led by a sergeant and inspector. They’re based in your area and supported by the wider Kent Police team.
We work with councils, community groups and local leaders to tackle the issues that matter most, finding long-term solutions and reducing crime.
We publish the meetings and events we plan to attend, but attendance depends on operational priorities.

Road safety issues.
Action taken:
Officers have responded to concerns about speeding in Birchington and spoken with drivers about safer driving.
Community Speedwatch has been restarted and is helping raise awareness of road safety. Community Speedwatch is a scheme where trained volunteers work with police to monitor speeding vehicles.
Residents are encouraged to share concerns with their local officer through local meetings or My Community Voice (a two-way messaging service used to share updates and report concerns).

E-scooters/e-bikes.
Action taken:
Officers are speaking with riders about the safe and legal use of e‑scooters and e‑bikes during patrols.
When offences continue, action is taken, including seizing vehicles and starting enforcement procedures. Work is also taking place across the wider area, with operations to tackle illegal or dangerous riding, and engagement with local retailers to make sure rules on sales are understood.

Action taken:
Officers are working with partners to keep roads safe, including addressing issues such as blocked roads.
They have been speaking with residents and motorists, carrying out patrols in busy areas, and sending advisory letters to vehicle owners who are causing obstructions.
Residents are encouraged to continue sharing concerns through local meetings or My Community Voice (an online two-way messaging service used to report issues and receive updates).
