Road safety issues.
Issued 16 April 2026
PC Howard has taken action to address concerns about road safety raised by residents.
During patrols and roadside checks, officers have stopped drivers and carried out alcohol and drug testing where appropriate. This includes roadside breath tests and drug tests, as well as field impairment tests (checks used to assess a driver’s ability to drive safely). Where offences are identified or suspected, arrests are made.
This ongoing work focuses on identifying unsafe drivers, preventing further offences and improving safety for all road users.
Residents are encouraged to continue sharing concerns through local ward surgeries or My Community Voice (an online two-way messaging service used to report issues and receive updates).

E-scooters/e-bikes.
Officers are also taking action against the illegal use of e‑scooters, which are not allowed on public roads or pavements unless part of an approved scheme. These can be unsafe for both riders and others, and enforcement action is taken where needed.
This ongoing work helps identify unsafe behaviour, prevent further offences and improve safety for everyone. Residents are encouraged to continue sharing concerns through local ward surgeries or My Community Voice (an online two-way messaging service used to report issues and receive updates).

Drug dealing.
Issued 16 April 2026
PC Howard is taking action to tackle drug activity and reduce its impact on the community.
Officers are using stop and search powers (a legal power that allows officers to search people for items such as drugs), which has led to arrests, out‑of‑court outcomes and the seizure and destruction of drugs. This helps disrupt dealing and remove harmful substances from the streets.
Alongside enforcement, officers are also carrying out welfare checks to support vulnerable people who may be affected by drug use or exploitation. This includes offering advice and signposting to partner agencies that can provide further support.
This approach combines enforcement and support to reduce drug‑related harm and help keep the community safe.
