about

Your Community Safety Unit is made up of local officers and police community support officers, led by a sergeant and inspector. They’re based in your area and supported by the wider Kent Police team.

We work with councils, community groups and local leaders to tackle the issues that matter most, finding long-term solutions and reducing crime.

We publish the meetings and events we plan to attend, but attendance depends on operational priorities.

My Community Voice is a free messaging service that keeps you updated on local news, events and safety information from your policing team. Find out more and register for My Community Voice.

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

    E-scooters/e-bikes.

    Issued 16 April 2026

    Action taken:

PC Godden is taking action to address concerns about the illegal use of e‑scooters and e‑bikes in the area.

During patrols, he regularly stops riders to explain the law and the importance of safe use. Where individuals continue to ride illegally or ignore advice, enforcement action is taken. This can include seizing the vehicle and progressing further action.

This is a district-wide issue, affecting all of Thanet. Because of this, officers carry out regular operations across the area to target unsafe and unlawful riding. Work also takes place with local retailers to make sure they understand the rules around selling e‑scooters and e‑bikes.

This approach combines education, engagement and enforcement to reduce risk and improve safety for the community. Residents are encouraged to continue sharing concerns through local ward surgeries or My Community Voice (an online two-way messaging service used to report issues and receive updates).

    Actioned 30 June 2026

  • Priority:

    Drug dealing.

    Issued 16 April 2026

    Action taken:

PC Godden has been carrying out ‘safe and well’ checks in the Salmestone area to make sure vulnerable people are safe and supported.

As part of this work, officers have visited addresses linked to possible drug activity. During one visit, three people were identified as being involved in suspected drug dealing. Officers used powers under the Misuse of Drugs Act (the law covering drug offences) to stop and search them, which led to drugs being found. The individuals were arrested and dealt with for drug supply offences.

These checks help both to safeguard vulnerable people and to disrupt drug crime. Officers will continue this work, focusing on areas of concern and acting on information provided by the community.

Residents are encouraged to keep sharing concerns through local ward surgeries or My Community Voice (an online two-way messaging service used to report issues and receive updates).

    Actioned 30 June 2026

  • Priority:

    Antisocial behaviour - general.

    Issued 16 April 2026

    Action taken:

Officers continue to focus on tackling antisocial behaviour (ASB) across the area.

Regular patrols are taking place in parks, streets and other locations where concerns have been raised. During these patrols, officers speak with young people to explain how their behaviour can affect others and help prevent problems from escalating.

As the summer months approach, when ASB can increase, officers are planning ahead with partners. This includes increased high‑visibility patrols and work with local schools to raise awareness and promote positive behaviour.

This ongoing approach combines prevention, engagement and enforcement to help keep the community safe. Residents are encouraged to continue sharing concerns through local ward surgeries or My Community Voice (an online two-way messaging service used to report issues and receive updates).

    Actioned 30 June 2026
