Road safety.

Officers continue to address road safety concerns across the area, particularly reports of dangerous and inconsiderate driving in Common Road, Chatham.

Where possible, officers carry out high-visibility patrols and vehicle checks, focusing on locations where concerns have been raised by residents. Information provided by the public helps identify problem vehicles, drivers and areas that may require enforcement action.

Those found driving in an antisocial manner may face enforcement action, including a Section 59 warning. This is a formal warning that can be issued when a vehicle is being used in a way that causes alarm, distress or annoyance. If the behaviour continues, the vehicle can be seized.

Where ongoing antisocial behaviour is identified, Community Protection Warnings and Community Protection Notices may also be used. These are formal measures designed to address behaviour that is having a negative impact on the local community.

Local officers remain committed to keeping roads safe and tackling behaviour that puts road users at risk.

Nuisance motorbikes.

Reports of nuisance motorcycles and antisocial riding continue to be received across the area, including concerns in Common Road, Chatham and other local hotspots.

Officers are carrying out targeted patrols and working to identify those involved. However, riders often leave the area before police arrive, which can make enforcement difficult.

Information provided by residents is helping officers build intelligence about those responsible and identify repeat offenders. Where evidence is available, officers will take appropriate action, including issuing Section 59 warnings. A Section 59 warning can be given when a vehicle is being used in a way that causes alarm, distress or annoyance. If the behaviour continues, the vehicle can be seized.

Antisocial behaviour - general.

Reports of antisocial behaviour tend to increase during the summer months, and officers continue to respond to concerns across the area.

One ongoing issue is trespassing at Aylesford Sand Pit, where young people have been entering private land to swim in flooded excavations. Officers have attended a number of incidents and remain in regular contact with the landowner due to concerns about public safety. However, police powers are limited, as entering private land without permission is generally a civil matter.

Further concerns have been reported in Walderslade, particularly around Catkin Close. In response, officers have carried out high-visibility patrols and stop and searches. During these searches, drugs were found and appropriate enforcement action was taken.

Where individuals are involved in ongoing antisocial behaviour, officers may issue Community Protection Warnings or Community Protection Notices. These are formal measures designed to stop behaviour that is having a negative impact on the local community.

Officers will continue to patrol hotspot areas and take action where offences are identified.
