Crimes and priorities

  • Our priorities
  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

    Road safety.

    Issued 15 April 2026

    Action taken:

Road safety remains a priority within Trench ward. During the reporting period, officers carried out patrols on foot, by bicycle and in both marked and unmarked police vehicles to address concerns raised by residents and partner agencies.

Speed enforcement activity has taken place at locations identified through community feedback, using speed detection equipment to target excessive speed and encourage safer driving. Officers have also taken part in dedicated road safety operations to increase enforcement and engagement opportunities across the area.

Where offences are identified, appropriate action is taken, including the issuing of Traffic Offence Reports. A Traffic Offence Report is a formal report used when a driver is suspected of committing a road traffic offence.

This ongoing work aims to improve driver behaviour, reduce risks to pedestrians and other vulnerable road users, and reassure residents that road safety concerns are being actively addressed.

    Actioned 02 July 2006

  • Priority:

    E-scooters/e-bikes.

    Issued 15 April 2026

    Action taken:

Officers continue to monitor the use of e-scooters and e-bikes within Trench ward through targeted patrols on foot, by bicycle and in both marked and unmarked police vehicles.

Where appropriate, officers engage with riders to provide advice about the law, safe riding and responsible use of these vehicles. When offences are identified, enforcement action is taken, particularly where rider behaviour creates a risk to pedestrians or other road users.

High-visibility patrols also help deter antisocial behaviour and provide reassurance to residents who have raised concerns about the use of e-scooters and e-bikes in the area.

Where vehicles are being used in a way that causes alarm, distress or annoyance, officers may issue a Section 59 warning. This is a formal warning that can lead to the vehicle being seized if the behaviour continues.

This work will continue as part of wider efforts to improve road safety, reduce antisocial behaviour and address concerns raised by the local community.

    Actioned 02 July 2026

  • Priority:

    Antisocial behaviour - general.

    Issued 15 April 2026

    Action taken:

Officers continue to address antisocial behaviour within Trench ward through regular high-visibility patrols and ongoing engagement with local residents.

Patrols take place on foot, by bicycle and in both marked and unmarked police vehicles, focusing on areas identified through community reports and local intelligence. This helps officers maintain a visible presence, provide reassurance and respond to concerns raised by residents.

Officers are also working closely with Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council to explore ways of improving CCTV coverage and other measures that may help gather evidence and monitor problem locations.

Partnership working remains an important part of tackling antisocial behaviour. By working with local authorities, residents and other organisations, officers aim to prevent issues from escalating, identify those responsible and keep the community safe.

Where ongoing antisocial behaviour is identified, officers may use Community Protection Warnings and Community Protection Notices. These are formal measures designed to address behaviour that is having a negative impact on the local community.

    Actioned 02 July 2026
