Your Community Safety Unit
Your Community Safety Unit is made up of local officers and police community support officers, led by a sergeant and inspector. They’re based in your area and supported by the wider Kent Police team.
We work with councils, community groups and local leaders to tackle the issues that matter most, finding long-term solutions and reducing crime.
We publish the meetings and events we plan to attend, but attendance depends on operational priorities.

Road safety issues.
Action taken:
Road safety remains an important priority for officers in the St Johns area. Neighbourhood officers continue to patrol local roads and engage with drivers where concerns have been raised about driving standards and vehicle-related antisocial behaviour. Targeted patrols and enforcement activity are used to promote safer driving, improve compliance with road traffic legislation and provide reassurance to residents.
Officers will continue to respond to concerns raised by the community, carry out proactive patrols and take appropriate action where offences are identified. By combining enforcement, engagement and visible policing, we aim to help keep local roads safe for all road users.

Shoplifting.
Action taken:
Supporting local businesses and tackling retail crime remains a key priority within St Johns. Officers have investigated a number of shoplifting offences reported by local retailers, carrying out CCTV reviews, witness enquiries and evidence gathering to identify those responsible.
This work has resulted in several suspects being identified and arrested, with evidence secured to support ongoing criminal proceedings where appropriate. Officers continue to work closely with local businesses, encouraging the prompt reporting of offences and the sharing of information to help identify repeat offenders and build stronger cases against those responsible.
Through continued partnership working, targeted patrols and proactive investigations, we aim to reduce retail crime, support local businesses and ensure offenders are held accountable for their actions.

Drug dealing.
Action taken:
Officers continue to take proactive action to tackle drug-related activity in the St Johns area. Through regular patrols, community engagement and intelligence-led policing, information about suspected drug use and drug dealing is continually assessed and acted upon. Information provided by residents and partner agencies plays an important role in identifying those involved and helping officers target enforcement activity in areas of concern.
Officers also carry out high-visibility patrols to deter offending, gather intelligence and provide reassurance to the local community. Where appropriate, enforcement action is taken and partner agencies are engaged to help safeguard vulnerable individuals affected by drug-related activity.
Neighbourhood officers remain committed to disrupting drug-related offending, supporting those at risk and reducing the impact that drug crime and associated antisocial behaviour can have on the wider community.
