Your Community Safety Unit is made up of local officers and police community support officers, led by a sergeant and inspector. They’re based in your area and supported by the wider Kent Police team.
We work with councils, community groups and local leaders to tackle the issues that matter most, finding long-term solutions and reducing crime.
We publish the meetings and events we plan to attend, but attendance depends on operational priorities.
My Community Voice is a free messaging service that keeps you updated on local news, events and safety information from your policing team. Find out more and register for My Community Voice.

Antisocial behaviour - nuisance.
Issued 21 April 2026
Addressing antisocial behaviour in the St James area remains a priority for neighbourhood officers. Following repeated reports of disturbances linked to a local address, officers carried out enquiries to identify those responsible and understand the causes of the ongoing issues.
As a result, several Community Protection Warnings (CPWs) were issued to individuals whose behaviour was having a negative impact on nearby residents. A CPW is a formal warning used to address antisocial behaviour at an early stage and may lead to further enforcement action if issues continue.
Officers have also worked closely with housing providers and partner agencies to address the underlying causes of the problems and reduce the risk of further incidents. This partnership approach has helped improve the situation, reduce antisocial behaviour and provide reassurance to the local community.

Drug dealing.
Issued 21 April 2026
Officers have continued to monitor and gather intelligence in response to reports of drug-related activity within the St James area. Information provided by residents and partner agencies helps identify individuals involved in suspected drug use and associated antisocial behaviour, allowing officers to target patrols and enquiries effectively.
Where concerns have been identified, officers have carried out enquiries and worked closely with partner organisations to disrupt criminal activity and safeguard vulnerable individuals. Regular high-visibility patrols also continue in areas where concerns have been raised, helping to deter offending, gather intelligence and provide reassurance to the local community.
Officers will continue to act on information received from residents, carry out intelligence-led patrols and work with partner agencies to address drug-related issues and help keep the area safe.

Catapults.
Issued 21 April 2026
Following a report of a member of the public being struck by a projectile from a catapult in Grosvenor Park, officers carried out enquiries and quickly identified the person responsible. The individual was located and taken home, where officers spoke with both them and their parents to address the behaviour and explain the consequences of their actions.
The matter was dealt with through a Community Resolution, an out-of-court outcome that provides an opportunity for offenders to take responsibility for their actions while addressing the harm caused to victims and the wider community.
Officers take reports involving catapults seriously and will continue to investigate incidents where their misuse causes injury, distress, damage or poses a risk to public safety. We will continue to work with young people, parents, schools and partner agencies to prevent further incidents and keep public spaces safe for everyone.
