Chief Constable of Kent Police Tim Smith said: ‘Our annual gender pay gap report is a valuable opportunity to transparently identify and assess any disparity in our workforce’s pay.
‘Monitoring wage gaps among our officers and staff is vitally important, because by fully analysing and understanding the data we are better equipped to address discrepancies both now and in the future.
‘When compared to other police forces, it is reassuring that we sit at the national average for gender pay gap performance. However, we will not become complacent and our efforts to minimise imbalances through recruitment, career progression and retention will continue with vigour.
‘I encourage you to read the report and consider the factors behind the data in the knowledge that the men and women who serve the communities of Kent do so with a great deal of pride. I also wish to assure you of my commitment as chief constable to improve diversity and inclusion throughout the force; and the gender pay gap report will play a significant role in enabling me to do so.
