FOI and subject access compliance
Freedom of Information (FOI) requests
The data published on the following spreadsheet displays the number of requests received each month by Kent Police, the number responded to within 20 working days, which in turn will give a compliance % and finally the number of requests that are outstanding and still waiting for a response to be sent. The expectation from the Information Commissioner’s Office is that an organisation achieves a 90% compliance rate.
The publication of the following data will always be one month behind due to the 20-working day time period in which to respond to requests. By way of an example, requests received in January would in general be all completed by the end of February and consequently the data would be available for publication in March.
Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 authorities must normally respond to FOI requests within 20 working days. Authorities will be selected for monitoring by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) should 90% of their requests regularly not receive a response within the appropriate timescales.

Subject Access Requests (SARs)
The data published on the following spreadsheet displays the number of SAR’s received each month that have been accepted by the Force (e.g. relevant ID has been obtained in order to confirm the applicant’s identity), the number responded to within 30 calendar days which provides our compliance percentage and finally the number of requests that are outstanding and awaiting a final response to be sent. Under the Data Protection Act 2018 we are required to respond to Subject Access Requests within 30 calendar days with the expectation of 100% compliance.
However, due to the quantity of data held by us and the complexity of some requests there are instances in which we may be unable to meet the 30 day compliance. The publication of the following data will always be one month behind due to the 30 calendar day time period in which to respond to requests. By way of an example, requests received in January would in general be all completed by the end of February and consequently the data would be available for publication in March.
