  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

    E-scooters/e-bikes.

    Issued 14 April 2026

    Action taken:

Officers have taken proactive action to tackle the antisocial use of e-scooters and e-bikes following an increase in reports from the local community. As a result of targeted patrols and enforcement activity, three e-bikes and three e-scooters have been seized. Vehicles being used illegally and without the required insurance may be destroyed if they are not reclaimed or brought into compliance within the required timescales.

This enforcement activity has contributed to a noticeable reduction in reports relating to e-scooter misuse within Ashford town centre. Officers will continue to carry out patrols, respond to concerns raised by residents and take appropriate action against those using e-scooters and e-bikes unlawfully. Through a combination of enforcement, education and community engagement, we aim to improve public safety and reduce antisocial behaviour across the area.

  • Priority:

    Antisocial behaviour - nuisance.

    Issued 14 April 2026

    Action taken:

Two unrelated individuals were arrested in Churchyard Passage, Ashford, following reports of alcohol-related disorder and public order offences during night patrols. Officers continue to carry out high-visibility patrols in the town centre and other identified hotspot locations to deter antisocial behaviour and provide reassurance to residents, businesses and visitors.

Proactive patrols have also focused on locations affected by nuisance behaviour involving young people, particularly around Station Road following an increase in reports. As a result, several young people have been issued with Acceptable Behaviour Agreements (ABAs) and Community Protection Warnings (CPWs) in relation to antisocial behaviour, including offences involving theft and the possession of catapults.

In addition, officers visited Victoria Park alongside a local representative to review opportunities to design out crime. This approach involves making environmental improvements to reduce opportunities for offending and help ensure public spaces remain safe and welcoming. This work supports local businesses, residents and partner agencies, while officers continue to patrol the park and take action where concerns are identified.

  • Priority:

    Shoplifting.

    Issued 14 April 2026

    Action taken:

Four repeat and prolific shoplifters have recently been identified and arrested by officers in Ashford town centre. Three have since been charged and are currently subject to court-imposed bail conditions. This included a prolific offender who had travelled from Dover to commit offences in Ashford. Following their arrest, strict conditions were put in place preventing them from returning to the town.

Officers also continue to attend monthly Shopwatch meetings, which form part of a local business crime reduction partnership. These meetings provide an opportunity for retailers and officers to share information, discuss crime trends and receive crime prevention advice. This close partnership working has helped identify offenders, support businesses and improve the reporting of retail crime.

As a result of ongoing enforcement activity and collaboration with local businesses, there has been a significant reduction in theft-related offences over the past year. Officers will continue to target repeat offenders, support retailers and take proactive action to keep Ashford town centre safe for businesses, staff and shoppers.

    Actioned 30 June 2026
