E-scooters/e-bikes.

PC Roy has carried out regular high-visibility foot patrols across the Beltinge ward to address community concerns and help keep residents safe. Although no e-scooters or e-bikes were encountered during these patrols, the issue remains a key policing priority due to the concerns raised by local people. Some e-scooters and e-bikes can be used unlawfully on public roads, pavements or other public spaces, creating risks for pedestrians and other road users. PC Roy will continue to carry out proactive patrols across the ward, and any unlawful use of e-scooters or e-bikes identified by officers will be dealt with appropriately. These patrols help to deter unsafe behaviour, educate riders and improve safety within the local community.

Road safety issues.

During patrols, PC Roy and his colleagues stopped a driver who was seen driving in a way that caused concern and could be considered antisocial. As a result, the driver was issued with a Section 59 warning. A Section 59 warning is a legal warning that police can issue when a vehicle is being used in a manner that causes alarm, distress or annoyance to members of the public. The warning is recorded against both the driver and the vehicle. If either the same driver or vehicle is involved in further antisocial use within 12 months, police have the power to seize the vehicle. Taking action in cases like this helps to improve road safety, reduce nuisance behaviour and reassure local residents.

Dog fouling.

Reports of dog fouling within the ward have been acknowledged and shared with the relevant local authority. Responsibility for enforcing offences related to dog fouling sits with the local council, which has the powers to investigate reports and take action where necessary. Residents who have raised concerns have been directed to the appropriate council advice and reporting channels so that issues can be dealt with by the responsible agency. Dog fouling can have a negative impact on public spaces and the local environment, and reporting incidents helps the council identify problem areas and target its resources effectively. This partnership approach helps to keep the area clean, safe and welcoming for residents and visitors.
