Highways obstructions.
Issued 22 April 2026
Your local neighbourhood officer deals with highway obstructions whenever they are identified during patrols. A highway obstruction is anything that blocks or restricts the safe use of a road, pavement or public right of way. In many cases, officers are able to resolve issues quickly by speaking with the vehicle owner, providing advice and asking them to move their vehicle. This approach has been successful, with most obstructions being removed promptly and drivers responding positively to the advice given. Where obstructions remain in place for longer periods or present a more serious concern, further action may be taken by police or the matter may be referred to the local council, which has responsibility for enforcing many highway-related issues. This partnership approach helps to keep roads and pavements safe and accessible for all road users.

Dog fouling.
Issued 22 April 2026
Concerns about dog fouling within the ward have been recognised and shared with the appropriate local authority. Dog fouling is the responsibility of the local council, which has the powers to investigate reports and take enforcement action where necessary. Residents who have raised concerns have been directed to the council’s reporting process so that incidents can be dealt with by the responsible organisation. Dog fouling can have a negative impact on public spaces, the local environment and public health, and reporting incidents helps the council identify problem areas and target its resources effectively. By working together with the council, local agencies can help ensure that public spaces remain clean, safe and welcoming for residents and visitors.

Road safety issues.
Issued 22 April 2026
Following reports of speeding in the area, officers carried out speed enforcement checks on Joy Lane in Seasalter ward on 2 June 2026. Several vehicles were stopped and drivers spoken to, but no offences were identified and no enforcement action was required. Four officers took part in the operation, providing a visible police presence and reassurance to local residents. Road safety remains a priority, and further speed checks will continue across the ward. Officers will also continue to work alongside Speedwatch, a community scheme where trained volunteers work with the police to monitor vehicle speeds and help raise awareness of speeding concerns in their local area.
