E-scooters/e-bikes.
Action taken:
Officers have continued to take action against the unlawful use of e-bikes and e-scooters within the area. Enforcing offences involving these vehicles can be challenging, particularly as local neighbourhood officers often carry out patrols on foot and may not always be in a position to stop riders safely. Despite this, officers remain committed to tackling the issue through patrols, community engagement and targeted enforcement activity where opportunities arise. E-bikes and e-scooters that are used illegally can create safety concerns for pedestrians and other road users, and work is continuing to identify offenders, educate riders about the law and take appropriate action when offences are detected.

Road safety issues.
Action taken:
Speed checks were carried out on St John's Road following concerns raised about speeding in the area. During the operation, only 3 vehicles were recorded travelling above the 30mph speed limit, and all were within the threshold where enforcement action would normally be considered. Details of these vehicles have been shared with the Speedwatch Scheme to help build a clearer picture of speeding trends in the area and support any future enforcement activity if concerns continue. Speedwatch is a community scheme where trained volunteers work alongside the police to monitor vehicle speeds and help raise awareness of road safety issues. Officers will continue to carry out speed checks and work with local residents to address concerns about speeding and improve safety on local roads.

Violent crime.
Action taken:
Officers have carried out a combination of high-visibility patrols, both on foot and in police vehicles, to help deter violent crime and provide reassurance to the Swalecliffe community. High-visibility patrols allow officers to maintain a visible presence in areas where concerns have been raised, helping to prevent crime and improve public confidence. During this reporting period, no incidents of violent crime were identified within the ward. Officers will continue to carry out regular patrols and engage with local residents to help keep the area safe and address any concerns raised by the community.
