E-scooters/Bikes.

Numerous bikes have been seized across the ward in recent months following reports from residents about nuisance riding and antisocial behaviour. Officers have responded to these concerns where possible and have taken action using a range of powers. This has included seizing vehicles being ridden without insurance or being used in a manner that causes nuisance or danger to others. Work is continuing to identify people who repeatedly use e-scooters and bikes illegally so that targeted enforcement can be carried out and further offences prevented.

Drug dealing.

Officers have carried out both uniformed and plain-clothes patrols across the ward to target drug-related activity. This work has led to a number of proactive stop and searches, arrests and the seizure of illegal drugs, helping to reduce the harm caused by drug crime in the community. Officers also carried out a warrant at an address linked to suspected drug supply. A warrant is legal authority granted by a court that allows officers to enter and search a property. The warrant resulted in two arrests, with one offender later being sent to prison.

Alcohol.

Officers are aware of reports of people gathering near the shops at the bottom of Ordnance Street and causing nuisance behaviour linked to alcohol consumption. Patrols in the area have been increased, with officers regularly engaging with those involved and addressing concerns raised by local residents. Where offences are identified, appropriate action will be taken. This may include the issue of Fixed Penalty Notices in areas covered by a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO). A PSPO is a legal power used by local councils to address behaviours that have a negative impact on the local community. It can place restrictions on certain activities in a specific area, and failing to comply with these restrictions may result in a fine.
