Following reports from the community, officers have carried out targeted patrols to identify people using e-scooters and electric bikes unlawfully. This has included speaking with riders, providing advice about the safe and legal use of these vehicles, and taking enforcement action where necessary. Several e-scooters and electric bikes have been seized because they were being used without the required insurance. Action has been taken where offences have been identified, helping to improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists and other road users.

Nuisance motorcycles.

High-visibility patrols have also focused on tackling nuisance motorcycles that cause problems for local communities. This work has included dealing with antisocial riding, motorcycles being used irresponsibly in public spaces, and riders committing traffic offences. Through proactive patrols and engagement with local residents, officers have taken action where offences have been identified. Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) fines have also been issued where appropriate. A PSPO is a legal power used by councils to address behaviour that has a negative impact on the local community. Breaching the conditions of a PSPO can result in a fixed penalty notice or further enforcement action.

Road safety issues.

Following concerns raised through community engagement and local meetings, officers have carried out a number of road safety checks across the area. Using speed detection equipment, officers have monitored vehicle speeds and spoken with motorists about the importance of driving safely and staying within the speed limit. Where appropriate, drivers may be given advice, education or enforcement action. This work aims to reduce speeding, improve road safety and help make local roads safer for everyone who lives, works and travels in the area.
