E-scooters/Bikes.
Issued 20 July 2026
Officers across Medway continue to tackle the illegal use of privately owned e-scooters on roads, pavements and in public spaces. Several e-scooters and electric bikes have been seized because they were being used without the required insurance. In one case, a rider was prosecuted for driving without insurance, driving without a licence and failing to stop when requested by police. Officers have also issued fines for breaches of a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO). A PSPO is a legal power used by councils to address behaviour that has a negative impact on the local community. Breaching the conditions of a PSPO can result in a fixed penalty notice or prosecution.

Nuisance motorcycles.
Issued 20 July 2026
Officers are continuing to target people who use vehicles illegally, ride dangerously, cause antisocial behaviour, or drive without the required licence or insurance. Information provided by local residents is helping officers identify areas where these issues are most common, allowing patrols to focus on known hotspots. This targeted activity helps improve road safety, reduce nuisance behaviour and address concerns raised by the community.

Antisocial behaviour - general.
Issued 20 July 2026
Tackling antisocial behaviour remains a priority for neighbourhood policing teams across Medway. Officers carry out regular high-visibility patrols in areas identified through reports from residents, including town centres, housing estates and other locations where concerns have been raised. Police work closely with Medway Council, housing providers and youth services to address the causes of antisocial behaviour and support those involved in it. Where necessary, enforcement action may be taken, including the use of dispersal orders, which require people involved in antisocial behaviour to leave an area for a set period. Officers may also issue Community Protection Warnings and Community Protection Notices, which are used to address behaviour that is having a negative impact on the community. In the most serious cases, a Criminal Behaviour Order may be sought through the courts to place restrictions on an individual's behaviour. Residents are encouraged to continue reporting incidents, as this information helps police identify problem areas and target resources where they are needed most.
