Road safety issues.
Issued 16 April 2026
Road safety concerns have been identified within the ward, and officers have been carrying out proactive patrols and enforcement activity to address them. Targeted speed checks have taken place at key locations where concerns have been raised by residents, with a number of drivers stopped and spoken to about their driving standards. Where appropriate, officers have provided advice and education to encourage safer driving and improve road safety. Traffic Offence Reports (TOR) have also been issued for offences identified during these checks. A TOR is a formal record created by police when someone is suspected of committing a road traffic offence and may result in a fixed penalty notice, a driver education course or a court appearance. This work will continue to help improve road safety, deter unsafe driving and protect all road users within the area.

E-scooters/e-bikes.
Issued 16 April 2026
PC Bailey is aware of ongoing concerns about the use of e-scooters and e-bikes in the area. In response, officers from the Community Safety Unit recently carried out a targeted Day of Action focused on identifying and dealing with vehicles being used unlawfully. During the operation, several e-scooters were seized after offences were identified. Some e-scooters and e-bikes cannot be used legally on public roads, pavements or other public spaces, and their misuse can create safety risks for pedestrians and other road users. Officers will continue to carry out patrols and enforcement activity to ensure the law is followed and to help make the area safer for everyone.

Theft - shoplifting.
Issued 16 April 2026
PC Bailey continues to maintain a visible presence in local shops and retail areas, regularly engaging with store staff to offer support and reassurance regarding shoplifting concerns. Working closely with businesses, officers share information to help identify offenders and take swift action where thefts occur. This partnership approach helps to prevent further incidents, reduce retail crime and improve safety for shop workers, customers and visitors. Shoplifting remains a priority, and officers will continue to work proactively with local businesses to identify those responsible and hold them accountable for their actions.
