Road safety.
Action taken:
Officers have been carrying out high-visibility patrols across the area and, where appropriate, have stopped drivers to provide advice or take enforcement action. In some cases, Traffic Offence Reports have been issued, which can result in a fine or, for more serious offences, a court appearance. Officers continue to focus on the main causes of serious road collisions, including speeding, using a mobile phone while driving and not wearing a seatbelt. Several vehicles have also been seized because they were being driven without valid insurance.

Alcohol.
Action taken:
Police work closely with the local council when applications relating to licensed premises, such as pubs and bars, are submitted, helping to ensure that legal requirements and licensing conditions are met. The number of alcohol-related incidents in the district remains lower than in many other areas. Officers continue to patrol the town during the evenings to help prevent crime and disorder, provide reassurance to residents and visitors, and support those using local venues. This work will continue over the coming months as the festive season approaches.

Antisocial behaviour - nuisance.
Action taken:
Officers regularly patrol the area during both the day and evening, including times when local pubs and restaurants are busiest. They work closely with security staff and CCTV operators to identify and address behaviour that causes nuisance or concern within the community. These strong partnerships help officers respond quickly to issues and maintain a safe environment for residents and visitors. On 18 November, PC Shirley will be holding a community engagement event in The Pantiles, providing an opportunity for local people to speak with their neighbourhood officer and discuss any concerns or priorities.
