It is important to note that police officer pay is set nationally. The following table shows the rank breakdown by gender for officers as at 31 March 2024 by headcount and percentage. The table also includes the previous reports female % as at 31 March 2024.

The table demonstrates that with the exception of chief officers and chief inspectors there has been an increase in the proportion of female officers across the other ranks. With regards to senior leadership roles, there are a total of 102 chief inspectors and above, of which, 34 are female. This equates to 33.03% and represents an increase when compared to the position as at 31 March 2023 (32.08%).
