about

Your Neighbourhood Policing Team is made up of local officers and police community support officers, led by a sergeant and inspector. They’re based in your area and supported by the wider Kent Police team.

We work with councils, community groups and local leaders to tackle the issues that matter most, finding long-term solutions and reducing crime.

We publish the meetings and events we plan to attend, but attendance depends on operational priorities.

My Community Voice is a free messaging service that keeps you updated on local news, events and safety information from your policing team. Find out more and register for My Community Voice.

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

    Drug taking.

    Issued 20 July 2026

    Action taken:

In response to concerns about drug use in public places, officers have carried out regular patrols in areas where issues have been reported. During these patrols, officers have engaged with people suspected of drug misuse and challenged behaviour that has been causing concern for local residents and businesses. Where there are legal grounds to do so, officers may stop and search individuals and take appropriate action in relation to any drug-related offences. Information gathered is used to support wider policing activity and help identify repeat offenders.

Officers also carry out regular checks of locations where evidence of drug use has previously been found so that any new issues can be identified and addressed at an early stage. In addition to enforcement activity, officers work with vulnerable people affected by substance misuse and signpost them to support services where appropriate, recognising that long-term solutions often require both support and enforcement.

  • Priority:

    Drug dealing.

    Issued 20 July 2026

    Action taken:

Drug dealing remains a concern for the local community, and officers continue to carry out patrols in areas where suspicious activity has been reported. Officers work closely with residents, shop staff and business owners to gather information about suspected drug-related activity and encourage people to continue reporting any concerns. Information gathered through patrols and community engagement helps police build intelligence, support investigations and target enforcement activity where needed. Regular patrols are carried out in locations linked to suspected drug dealing to gather information, disrupt criminal behaviour and provide reassurance to local people. Officers also work with partner organisations to help support vulnerable people affected by issues such as substance misuse and street begging. Through a visible presence and ongoing engagement with the community, officers aim to deter offending, respond to local concerns and help keep the area safe.

  • Priority:

    Homelessness/begging.

    Issued 20 July 2026

    Action taken:

Concerns about begging have been raised by residents and local businesses, particularly in busy areas of the town centre. Officers have carried out regular patrols and spoken with people involved to better understand their circumstances and any support they may need. This has helped identify vulnerable people who may be experiencing homelessness, substance misuse issues or other personal difficulties. Where appropriate, information has been shared with support organisations and outreach services to help individuals access available assistance. Officers have also monitored reports of aggressive or persistent begging and provided reassurance to affected businesses. Where behaviour has become antisocial or involved a criminal offence, appropriate action has been taken. Through regular patrols and ongoing engagement, officers aim to reduce the impact on the wider community while supporting those who may need help.
